Below is a list of transportation services in Lorain County.  They are listed according to the status of service, due to Covid-19. To quickly find transportation options and other needs for your community, dial 2-1-1. Below is a video to quickly explain how to use the 2-1-1 service.

The LCADA Way

Mental Health Counseling, Transportation, Residential Facilities, Rehabilitation, Information/Referral, Health Care.

Lorain County Board of Developmental Disabilities

Service Status: 

Limited Service

Murray Ridge Center provides door-to-door transportation to our school, opportunity/vocational centers, and to some community job sites. We also provide training in accessing public transportation.



Additionally, Murray Ridge Center offers customized, door-to-door transportation to sites of adult day services offered by other DD system providers within Lorain County.

Medical considerations are accounted for during transport, and transportation personnel have extensive training in First Aid/CPR, Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI), and safe vehicle operation. All of our vehicles receive annual vehicle inspections and regular preventative maintenance.

Lyft Rideshare

Service Status: 

Normal Operations

Passengers can then request a ride from a nearby driver. Once confirmed, the app shows the driver's name, ratings by past passengers, and photos of the driver and car. Riders must download the Lyft mobile app to their iOS or Android-based phone, sign up, enter a valid phone number, and enter a valid form of payment. After the ride is over, the rider is given the opportunity to provide a tip to the driver, which is also billed to the rider's payment method.

Lorain County Transit

Service Status: 

Normal Operations

This service is offered mainly in Elyria and Lorain. There is also a 2-day a week service contract with Oberlin (Mondays/Thursdays). They are in full operation. Face coverings are required and they are social distancing on the bus.

City of Avon

Service Status: 

Normal Operations

The Avon Senior Center Transportation Program (PDF) is an unassisted, curb-to-curb service available to Avon's older adult residents who have no alternative means of transportation.

A Passenger Transportation Information and Waiver form needs to be completed and returned before your first journey with Avon Senior
Transportation Services.

Requests for transportation to radiation, chemotherapy, physical therapy, dialysis, etc. will be taken as scheduling allows.

The transport van is wheelchair accessible.

Appointments are scheduled on a first-come, first-serve basis. Special priority is given to medical appointments.

City of Avon Lake - Community Transportation

Service Status: 

Normal Operations

Unassisted curb-to-curb service is available to all Avon Lake residents . The transport van has a wheelchair lift available. There is no fee for this service. Transportation is available for local shopping, banks and medical appointments.

Transportation Policies and Procedure:

Scheduling for the van is on Thursdays and Fridays from 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. You may schedule up to three weeks in advance.

A Passenger Transportation Information Form must be completed and returned before your first transport.

Appointments are scheduled on a first-come basis.
Wheelchair transportation is available. We are unable to accommodate motorized chairs or scooters.

Seatbelts must be worn at all times. Wheelchairs must have their own seatbelt.

Please be ready 10 minutes prior to scheduled pick-up time. We try our best to be punctual. However, traffic, weather conditions, etc., can interfere with schedules.

When your medical appointment is over, you must call the driver at 440-653-1977 to request a pick-up for your return ride.

The final pick-up of the day is at 3:00 p.m. If the passenger is unable to be ready for pick-up by then, they will need to arrange for an alternate means of transportation.

Scheduled stops only; additional same-day requests will not be granted.
Transportation services are canceled when Avon Lake City Schools are closed due to inclement weather. If the van is not operating because of weather or mechanical problems, passengers will be notified by telephone.

Cancellations: Phone in cancellations as soon as possible. Cancellations may be phoned into 440-930-4126 at any time, day or night (voice mail messages are appreciated).

LifeCare Ambulance Services

Service Status: 

Normal Operations

Provides rapid ambulance transportation to health care facilities for acutely ill or injured individuals who need immediate medical intervention both on the scene and en route.

Oberlin Connector

Service Status: 

Normal Operations

By contract with Lorain County Transit (LCT), the city of Oberlin will continue to provide demand-response transit service in Oberlin on Mondays and Thursdays. Schedule Service will operate from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Mondays and Thursdays. The last pickup time is 5:30 p.m. Call 800-406-7541 to schedule a ride.

Lorain County Veterans Services

Service Status: 

Normal Operations

Transportation is provided to and from VA Medical Facilities in Wade Park & Parma and the VA Outpatient Clinic in Sheffield Village. Availability is on a first-come, first-serve basis. A morning shuttle is available to Wade Park & Parma. Home pick-ups are provided for appointments at the VA Outpatient Clinic in Sheffield Village. Wheelchair accessible transportation is available.

Uber

Service Status: 

Normal Operations

Uber is a platform where those who drive and deliver can connect with riders, eaters, and restaurants. In cities where Uber is available, you can use the Uber app to request a ride. When a nearby driver accepts your request, the app displays an estimated time of arrival for the driver heading to your pickup location.

Greyhound

Service Status: 

Normal Operations

Onboard Entertainment, Free Wifi, Power Outlets, Extra Legroom | Go Greyhound! ... Almost all our buses are now brand new or refurbished head to toe.

Lorain Seniors Center

Service Status: 

Temporarily Closed

When the weather is bad, Transportation Services will run only if road conditions are deemed safe. They have temporarily ceased operations.

Amherst City, Office on Aging

Service Status: 

Temporarily Closed

Transportation is provided to take seniors to doctors’ appointments, drug stores for prescriptions, county-wide agencies for required appointments, as well as for shopping and other essential local travel needs. Those passengers requesting transit to a site within a designated radius of Amherst City limits will be charged the rate of $10.00 round trip. The staff also shops for groceries and will run errands for clients; these trips will be charged at $15.00 per trip. Prescription pick-up and delivery in Amherst only is $8.00. El Centro de Servicios Sociales

Service Status: 

Temporarily Closed

Providing services for older Lorain County Hispanic adults including case management, supportive services, limited translation, advocacy, socialization, arts and crafts, and transportation.Older adults must sign up for the El Dorado Senior Center program before services such as transportation can be scheduled. Transportation Services have temporarily ceased operations due to Covid-19.

City of North Ridgeville

Service Status: 

Temporarily Closed

Offers transportation for older adults age 60 and older living in North Ridgeville and the townships of Carlisle, Columbia, Eaton, Grafton, and LaGrange. Possible destinations include the senior center, medical appointments, grocery shopping and monthly mall trips. A wheelchair van is available for these trips.

City of Wellington - Office on Aging

Service Status: 

Temporarily Closed

Provides transportation for Village of Wellington residents ages 60 and over to destinations including grocery stores, drug stores, hair salons, doctors and dentists. Operated by volunteers. Local destinations are $.50 each way. Social trips are $8 to $30, depending on the trip. This

Lucy Idol Center Inc.

Service Status: 

Temporarily Closed

Transportation, Recreation/Social, Developmental & Mental Health Services. They are operating on a limited basis.
Also certified for mental health transportation services.

Lorain Port Authority - Jet Express & Shuttle Boat Services

Service Status: 

Temporarily Suspended

Jet Express, Shuttle Boat, and Private Boat Reservations


Lorain County Office on Aging

Service Status: 

Temporarily Suspended

Provides nonemergency door-to-door transportation for older adults who require routine medical services and who are unable to use other available means of transportation. Possible destinations include medical, dental, and vision appointments and hospitals or centers for tests or other regular treatment. Transportation are temporarily suspended due to the lack of being able to abide by social distancing.
